Day 59: Joining Mayor Karl Dean

Today's focal point was a ride along the  Harpeth River Greenway. an event sponsored by Nashville's mayor, Karl Dean.

The ride from the hotel to Greenway was not bad. Traffic was heavy at first but got progressively lighter and bike lanes became more prominent and wider as I rode out. All vehicles gave me plenty of elbow room. Another big plus!
A little tight but I've seen worse
Better bike lanes

 Superb bike lane!

Meeting Nashville Mayor Karl Dean

Nashville is lucky to have such a health oriented leader!

Sitting with Denise Costanza and other members of the American Heart Association team

Local rider, Phil and other riders getting ready to head out

We're off!

Anyone wearing a Crested Butte jersey has to be a great person!
Phil and I talked non-stop over the next hour of riding

Phil telling me about how he hit a deer while descending at 50 MPH.
Knocked him out but he got away with just surface scrapes (tough bones!) Not sure how the deer fared.

Beautiful scenic trail

Finishing up with long shadows

Thank you Elizabeth Mobley for picking up a jersey for your husband!
I hope he gets good use out of  it!

  3. A great day with the locals and even the mayor. Sounds like a lot of fun.
On to Kentucky! Back in CA it's Tahoe weekend. Today it is rainy (I'm a wimp) hoping for some fun rides with the gang over the next few days.
    Dave, you are an inspiration!
